take what light i have to give
my gentle friend
you are fallen splintered shattered
scattered all upon the hill
take what hope i have to share
for your rebirth
roots and limbs born out again
as skyward green
your absence will be remembered long
sung among the highest boughs
from whence you fell
the ancient order of the wood
will chant your transmigration through
realms of rain and fog
take what light i have to give
my heartwood friend
you are returned from whence you came
drying slowly in the gloom
feel what hope i strive to spread
throughout your broken form
find a place against the loam
to spread your leaves again

This is sad yet peaceful. What a way to send a friend off.
feel what hope i strive to spread
throughout your broken form
Those are very powerful lines. And I believe they really have the power to do marvels for that soul or spirit. Afterall, we are all connected.
find a place against the loam
to spread your leaves again
And there's no better way to end than that. Like trees, humans and all creation will be born again through the seeds they plant in others.
This is an awesome piece. Any spirit you will send off with this will find the hope, peace, love and beauty he thought he had lost from falling. -
I like this.
When you are through with the current contest you are in, you could put this in mine which honors those that have gone on and those that survive. I liked how you did this, no matter the style.
