Mountain to Molehill

Accumulation of strength
through each obstacle
placed in my path-
preparation for
another uphill climb.

Small molehills once tripped on,
now jumped over
making the mountain
more scalable in my eyes~
training for the highest peak.

Gazing at the top,
remaining focused,
ascent begins
up this towering giant
staring me down.

I climb.

Slowly…
Steadily…
with trembling hands,
knowing one slip might result
in my downfall, plummeting
to jagged rocks below.

Labored breathing from thinning air,
afraid the fraying rope will snap
or an avalanche would pulls all down,
collapsing my lungs from worry’s strain.

Strengthened by faith,
taking each foothold
with care and thanksgiving,

I continue on…

Weathering elements
In threadbare clothing,
shivering from coldness
and sheer fright.

I push upward.

Focused on the present goal,
aiming for sunrise
beyond mountain peaks,
my final steps are illuminated.

Peace touches,
rushing in upon reaching the summit.
Looking down
on blisters and scrapes from hanging on,
and barriers overcome,

steady climbing proves
a mountain is never too high
for the determined spirit.

...and I am ready again.

Human spirit and faith, making molehils from mountains; i especially like the points of view here: looking up, looking down, looking back and affirmation- looking ahead...so very well done...brava to both...PK

Such a beautiful blending of work. You two make it look easy, however, we know quite well it is not.
You have done a terrific job hitting this prompt.

More than a mountain climbed in the one. Well done you two and best of luck in the judging. ~Pamela

First, I really liked your opening... a lot.
I got a very strong manifested-kinesthetic sense about confidence... and it was well put through the adverse genre of trial. Not something we go over, but even the mountains we go through.
    Fabulous work here, thank you

This one is really great. A strong, universal message swathed in convincing, well-crafted metaphor. The spacing at the end gives punch to the final thoughts. A powerful take on the prompt.

"I amim for the sunrise" great line. A fabulous metaphor for life itself. Climbing mountains, overcoming obstacles. What does not kill us makes us stronger. Well done.

I would say this poem perfectly captures the essence of perseverance.
It is evident that a great deal of thought and planning went into this metaphor and poem. However, it seams together so flawlessly it appears it was effortless.
    I am impressed, as always.
I know a great many mountain-climbers who would appreciate this.
