Argosy of Stars

An argosy of stars sprung overhead
Like ancient lanterns, through this forest trail
I traveled on to trace that piercing wail
That chilled my blood and left me full of dread.
That witch’s call I heard I could not shed,
It filled me with a sense of such travail,
I stood before her lair down in the vale,
Where shifting shadows from the moon now spread.

And she came forth. The scent of pungent musk
Hung in the air, her opaque eyes were wild,
She pointed to the moon’s thin-bladed tusk,
She so enchanted me, allured, beguiled.
Gripped like some wicked hurricane at sea
She pulled me into dark depravity.

Please tell me what you think

I love your sonnets (guess you can tell) You always paint a vivid picture and take my mind off somewhere else. I especially like your dark sonnets.

    Love,
