Should reminders
all that be left to me,
I will cradle each
next to my heart,
remembering moments
with trembling breath;
But with each intake
will feel the sharpness
of sorrow,
while every exhale
will disperse--
such incredible yearning;
Coldness of loss
will settle--
in corners of eyes,
causing shadows to drift
aimlessly...
as I try to stare into emotion
to find you standing,
still...
and with my mind
will reach to touch--
ripples of muscled skin,
woven in forgotten embrace,
where I may once more
be entwined within,
even if it be only shadows
just a moment of sensory memory
that for a fraction may return me
to remembered bliss,
I would be thankful--
for the journey...

This is GORGEOUS. Sometimes when the memories are all we have, it certainly can produce sorrow. They are precious to us, but bittersweet, because there is such pain in the recollection of the loss. But as you so beautifully point out, we are on a journey, and we learn from each experiences, for each one whom we have touched.
"where I once more may once more be entwined within"--i just loved that line. It is a "beauty for ashes" outlook, and one that takes some maturing to truly live out, though.
This one really touched me. Just loved it!
