We see the world differently
When we're happy or sad.
Or depressed,
Funny,
Sick.
There are shades of gray
In what we want to portray as a world
Shrouded in black and white.
And when we're happy,
We can see the positive things in life;
We see the sunlight and love it.
We see the birds
And marvel at their flight.
We can breathe the air
And not think about pollution,
Not only that of the air
But also of our minds.
But when we're on the opposite side of times,
The world as we see it is reversed.
We can only note in our thoughts
The dampness of the earth
And the cold air.
We see everyday objects
As being ugly,
And when we go to breathe the air on these days,
It's hardly rustic.
It's on these days
That we ask ourselves,
"Who am I?"
And by this what we really mean is,
"What do others see me as?"
It's on these days
That we experience our darker moments.
Imagine
If the world were only black and white.
How simple things would be!
In our world,
There are varying degrees
Of wrong or right,
And most would rather be
Less wrong than more right.
In today's world,
I would go as far to say
That perhaps we have no black and white.
Because maybe today's world
Can only see in terms of gray.
