Another Sigh and Smile

Your character flaws are many, and often
I find myself making excuses for you
yet I would trade all the mild mannered men in the world
to see that devilish smile light up your face
to know the glint in your eyes is there for me
and that, through all your joking, mocking manners
you would even don a suit and tie if I asked
although you'd probably look ridiculous

It's true, there are others I find attractive
often, in some ways, more than you
yet the way I'm held in your arms reassures me
that I made the right choice when I chose you to hold me
all the pretty boys and girls who catch my eye
have none of the substance even your hollow self contains
the darkness and anger melts away
as you risk everything to protect me

There's nothing more I would wish than to stay with you
No matter how the worlds shift around us, we'll stay as one
A blue-eyed fiend and his black-haired bride
Lost in the reality of the love we have found

Tied together by the choices we have made

Nothin' but true love, darlin'

Author notes

Inspired by Shakespeare's sonnet 130

I kind of turned this into an love story about a character from Bleach, Grimmjow Jaegerjaques, and a character I made up for the fandom. The last line is a quote from one of my fanfics, said by Grimmjow. Yeah, I'm a nerd, but I really liked writing this, especially since I love that sonnet.

    Good luck in the contest!
    "Nothin' but true love, darlin'"
I thought for a bit this would be a yaoi, it isn't right?
Bleh, I'm not far enough into bleach to know about this guy. I probably never will be at the rate I'm going.
    Great write!
    May your pencil never break!

Nope, no yaoi. Just him and Kuro. It's the same as in another poem I wrote, called Karamete Yatsuzaku, if you remember. But this one is sweeter. . . .

Lol- I remember reading that sonnet for the first time, and I liked this piece, by the way. I think the first stanza was the strongest. The ending feels a little cliche, and also I haven't ever watched that show so I might not completely understand the whole story.

But still nice job, thanks for entering, even though I only have 4 entries I don't think I'm going to cancel it, but like... invite your friends if they like Shakespeare too o.o or something! hahaha
