orange bill and pink legs
two black bellied whistling ducks
perched on lifeless trunk
companions that mate for life
arboreal ducks talking
Author notes
wa choo is the whistling sound they make
I had two of these in my back yard in Texas. One flew to the roof top of a neighbor and whistled to his mate. Was quite a site.

a good poem with a strong coloured beginning and a descriptive no nonsense penning, you state clearly and boldly who these are and where they live and their whistling voice, all good.

-
Interesting scenario with sound effects, very creative and clever. Well Done!

I really think you should change your name to BirdLady. You have such a subtle touch about you on this subject. Both entertaining and informative!
On second thought - that IS the Magic...

Ah, this is so lovely. I work at the zoo now, and every day I go visit a couple of ara that are very much in love. Yesterday the male had his left wing over the female back, looked as if he was embracing her. Wonderful sight! I always think of you when I see the birds there.
Love your poem
