Years and years have passed
and for the majority of those,
what seem like few years,
I cant honestly say
you were the thing that got me through.
I know I've changed
over those vast years
and I know I've made mistakes,
but being with you made them right.
And so many short years ago,
I fell in love with you,
and it was the first thing I did right.

I know I've spoken words
I dare never repeat,
those words I crave to take back,
but I cant,
and I know words fade
but I promise how I felt never changed.
I never stopped seeing you as perfect,
and I see you as flawless even now,

You found me in the darkest days
and you never left me when the sun was too bright,

You took me to places I've never been before,

I'm on Everest
watching the sky collide with the ground below.

Over my life,
you taught me so many lessons,
like love is real,

You made me believe again

You promised me so many things
and you kept to your word,
you made me see promises are not just lies.
You taught me that some things do last forever.

and I miss you even now.

and I'll somehow grab your hand
and lead you through this tortuous land,
like you did with many years ago.
