Autumn

The winter woods are cold and still
Waiting for the time to come
When the trees welcome the coming spring with leaves
And the flowers peep shyly from the fertile earth
All is quiet and still
Waiting for spring to come with her warm embrace
Now the leaves drift lazily to the ground
Like colorful sparks from a burning fire
Nature is ravaged by the dawn of winter
And autumn’s cooling arms hold the world
Swallowing the smoldering, dying colors
Of summer gone asleep
The world is ablaze with the fading blush of autumn

nicely done! this flows together wonderfully; just as the season's themselves

  • This is

a lovely depiction of the change of seasons. Love the flow, content & word choice. The only thing I feel is lacking is proper presentation & punctuation. Perhaps I'll send you a suggestion! Nice work here.

  • the last line is breathtaking. I really love how the imagery of this shoots forth towards the reader and envelopes them in different temperatures, such as the warmth of the burning sparks of leaves and the ravaged dawn's of winter I really love this. Fantasic!!!

Heh usually Autumn isn't a season I look forward to. You made it sound awesome, though, by depicting all the other seasons so harshly. This piece was very nicely done.

You have given such wonderful personality to each of the four seasons and made your entry a delightful one. Thank you so much for this lovely piece. Patricia

This is nice. Paints a vivid, emotive picture.
My favorite part is: "autumn’s cooling arms hold the world/ Swallowing the smoldering, dying colors
Of summer gone asleep" I looooove that! Great read. - NANGALEEMA

    Nice Autumn Shades

Autumn is a beautiful time of year. Makes me think of hot apple cider and cinnamon. Love the last line in this poem. You've given a great image of autumn in this poem.
    Nice write.

  • You certainly captured the optimism of autumn when it is the season that is traditional associated with death. well done.
