As my father in law lies in his grave
and his exwife stands there
as her dearest friend is buried
next to him under the tree
And as she drives home
from this fateful scene
On the radio plays A whiskey Lullaby
And she asks me
If God is trying to tell her something
she doesn't get
Oh Lady can't you see
he died of a broken heart
he cried for 20 years
unable to see his children
you took his life away;
He tried to fill it with money
the pain you inflicted on him
Us women can move on
But he could not;
he would sit on the staircase balling
trying to hide;
20 years after you left him
turning his children against him;
Yes he was a pain in the butt
but he had a big heart.
And I miss him dearly
The lies you spread hurt his soul
I watched him in his last days
Oh how proud of his grandbaby
But sad
very sad
Lady
I watched my father in law die
of a broken heart.
In memory Of Jack Neu R.I.P.

Very nice piece, so sad, yet as the old saying goes...better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all...

-
brutally honest
some great lines again;my favourite is the lies you spread....people can hurt each other so much.even without knowing it sometimes.you say it so well here.
