Borrowed Wings

Flying,
     upon borrowed wings,
          autumn clouds churn,
               like dipped ice cream,
                    vanilla, and strawberry swirl

soaring,
     beneath peeping sun,
          birds of paradise frolic,
               shadows appear like child,
                    scaling mountains, running valleys

spilled,
     paints from nature's buckets,
          saturate tinseled brush,
               still, the sun gleams,
as if flame above wax and wicker

carpeted,
     Crayola hued leaves swirl,
          casting rings around roses,
               gusts slip across chilled twigs,
                    clicking fall's melody... acorns drop

frenzied,
     squirrel, robin and rabbit scurry,
          collecting, burrowing, scampering,
nuts chuckle down branches, onto ground,
mincemeat, pumpkin pie, and cinnamon cider,

aromas fill the air, at grandma's house
