I Met This Siren

I met this Siren by a winding rill
Her eyes were cool, her gaze so warm,
She made the Earth itself and Time stand still,
Could calm a storm.

Her huge green eyes so like the moiling sea
Where foaming white-capped breakers seethe,
Her scented hair so like mahogany,
I could not breathe.

And she is sleek and sly and like the night
Where all the nubile wild nymphs fare,
Her beauty puts the errant stars to flight
In perfumed air.

She moves like one so filled with love and grace,
Her loveliness I cannot bear,
And such a classic, pretty Siren’s face
As angels share.

She sat beside that rill and softly sighed,
Clouds fled as might the frightened geese,
And then I thought for sure that I had died
I felt such peace.

And who can say through beauty or through guile
That such a one as she is now
Might strike the Moon, dam up the Nile,
Or kiss my brow?

I met this Siren by a winding rill
And in that day eternity,
Vessel wherefrom her potent wine will spill
I drink of thee!

Well done, as usual Michael. You are a true romantic.

It goes to prove that we old battle weary warriors of life still understand affairs of the heart. Perhaps more so than our younger counterparts who are driven more by raging hormones than a true appreciation of companionship and mutual respect.

This poem is captivating with an amazing flow. You already knew i would love the story and the image. Please tell me; what is this form? It looks so familiar like it's Sapphic but it really isn't.

    Love,
    Amera♥
