The End of the Faeries

fireflies dance among moonlit leaves
faeries wings flutter upon the breeze
fruitless attempts for human race to appease
Her charming dance full of grace
turned to a tale for a childs smiling face
chubby cheeks surrounded by lace
injustices the faerie endured
men found her beauty to easily allured
a hate that none ever truly cured
they've lain in waste, on this day of days
mankind alone sorely pays
as their women cry, coffers home to dismay
do they not realize what they have done?
that they alone reap the poisoned crop they have sown?
as the faeries, their dance of laughter turned to moans.
a species turned to dust
and none rise to protest
a demonic act of greedy lust
the faeries have been destroyed
mans only fitting niche deployed
in death and horror, their innocence now void.

Man destroys All beauty in this earth
trading for gold all her worth
perhaps one day the dead will unearth
what man has done to waste
the only true nectar to taste
