Just if my hands were so broad
Just if I could hold, what you want
If I could hold you smile
If I could hold your trust
If I could hold your security
If I could hold your tears
If I could hold your love,
Just if I could hold, what you want
I wouldn’t be holding this pen
I would have held you in my arms
Nestled to me,
I wouldn’t be writing this
I would be singing songs…
Just if my heart was so broad
To let you in, and importantly
To let you breathe.

The last three stanzas are the best I think. They really convey your regret. I like the last line best, it's important to let a partner have some space within the relationship. WAM
