Love like a red rose,
Whispers of the heart,
The green, green grass of home.
A ray of hope shines in the darkness,
Piercing the soul.
You're my friend in times of trouble,
When I tread the path of sorrow...
Will you shine a light for my tomorrow?
We'll run this race together,
Bearing the torch of our salvation,
Until we reach the journey's end.
Author notes
I am writing for Option 2, but not for one particular friend.

This is truly an uplifting and hopeful poem you have written here. It's always nice to know that you have this very special friend you can rely on when you're in times of need

The third line triggered a song in my head though
and the only line I know in it is actually 'The green, green grass of home'
Anyway, keep it up!

Thank you
Thanks for your encouraging comments - it wasn't actually written about anyone in particular, but more general. I also remember the country song written by Claude Putman Jr. and made popular by Tom Jones in 1966.
