Warped and twisted by the destruction I cause
controlled, a smile worn just beneath my lips
For every word I give you has hidden meanings
calculated in my genius mind to bring you down
to confuse you with the kind image I portray
Though every brilliant strategy you see through
brings the percentage of guilt a little higher
(even my five percent is huge in your eyes)
I will still convince you in the end to trust me
then finally I will take the name you will give me
and steal the anonymity from the letter L
keeping your face in my mind as I write it
taking the very last breath from your lips
I admit I made a few mistakes in the beginning
and it really is troubling to have found an equal
you match me in intellect, drive, and persistence
But the power of the gods was given to me
this notebook I've filled with the lives of the worthless
proof of the vengeance bestowed upon sinners
I am the destined winner of this game
For no matter how long we play these strategies out
I will still go further, staying a step ahead
and your trust in this friendship will be your undoing
as I cradle you, dying, in my arms
the last thing you see will by my triumphant smile

I really liked this. A lot. You're definitely a finalist. It was wonderful and very enjoyable. The only thing is I felt like at some points it was a run-on sentence, like all the lines were one paragraph or something.
Anyway, this was awesome, thank you and welcome to my death note fanfiction contest!!! Good luck.

Good luck in those contests!
"controlled, a smile worn just beneath my lips"
"calculated in my genius mind to bring you down"
is this guy like Artemis Fowl? At least a little bit?
"But the power of the gods was given to me
this notebook I've filled with the lives of the worthless"
Sounds kinda like you were writing about yourself in this part.
Great write!
May your pencil never break!

Bravo! Bravo! This was wonderful, even though i don't care for Light, this really portrayed him. I could already imagine Light talking to me.
