To maa on her birthday...

Missing image

maa,  personification of art

through her words,

from her heart,

in her love of birds.

A joyous lilting voice

brings her poetry to life,

lets her spirit rejoice,

summoning wildlife.

Magnetic attraction

lays the world at her feet,

seeking interaction,

knowledge at a heart beat.

An individual most spritual,

dispensing herbal lore;

creative artist most unusual

collage, wire, crystals and more!

maa, personification of art

Author notes

I celebrate maa in thanks for her motivation
as she placed lovely photos in her replies.
"Well, why can't I?" I quizzed myself,
and went searching to find all the right links,
and voila, I discovered new paths!!

Merci beaucoup, maa.

Yes, I pictured you that way,
a little embarrassed by all the attention,
        but loving it, like birdie!!!!!

honestly, I am not at all used to it - I live a bit like an hermit, hardly leaving the house and no social life at all ... so the abundance of loving kindness shared in those cyber-gatherings is really overwhelming for me ...
I must admit that I actually enjoy it though, like birdie does ... she told me to stop refusing and to start accepting ...

So true! I met Marion not so long ago, and since the first hello I sensed her kindness. Her voice is peaceful, soothing, she emanates such a soothing feeling. I come at peace when reading her words.
Your poem and your Marion drawing are so special, and so are you

      with our interactions with maa.
      Reading the words of another
      can be so telling.

      Thank you, Mari!

There are some people I can remember meeting for the first time, but not Marion, she grew into my life by degrees. She is a rare individual with many talents and a defining spirituality.
I'm happy to see the effect that she has on you, inspiring both pictures and verse. Will you enter it in my contest if I promise not to make you win? Just kidding, but please give us a comment and a link to this beautiful page.

      Welcome to my site, Margaret!

      Just the opposite for me.
A few weeks ago maa visited my piece,
"Herbal Miracles" where I posted a pic
of my patio container garden as it looked
last summer, sharing our interest in herbs.
Then, in "Meals on Wheels for Wildlife"
she posted beatuiful large pix of herself
with her husband and the birdies!

So I came upon maa recently and suddenly,
      happily!!!

You don't seem to enter contests, and I can understand why, it is all kind of silly, but I agree with Chickadee birthday lady, it should go in the contest, just do what I do (scary thought I know!) Just write non-entry in the title. Ok, I'll shut up and mind my own business now.

I had hoped to get a link here
so as not to enter. Had decided
when I arived here not to be part
      of "judging" because there seemed
to be hurt feelings by many. I'm
      the resident cheerleader wherever
I go, so I've always declined
      invitations to enter AP contests.
Wouldn't want to hurt feelings of
others whose contests I did not
enter. Will check out the non-entry.

Thank you, Yem...for attending to business!

What a lovely tribute, your power of observation, it's rare, at least on AP it is! You seem to know people a short while and can pick out the main characteristics about them, some probably that they don't even show. That is the power of observation...you not only talk the talk (in your poems) but you walk the walk.

Maa looks lovely, and the chickadee looks cute as a button...good enough to eat even...oops, you and Maa will gang up on me if I continue...

      Ah, thank you, Yem.

You had better "oops" ----or the flock will come after you!!!

The morph click below is the gentler one---and the birdie
shows up better! I drew him first, directly with pen,
but then thought I'd best do a light pencil sketch
      first of maa!!!

you are such a magician - not only with the plants and the pen, but also with the pencil ...

      thank you sooooooooo much ...

ps. I completely understand, honor and cherish your decision of not entering the contest, dear one ... I actually feel touched by your sensitivity not to hurt anybody's feelings ...

      you rock ...

        I had a good subject!

It is fascinating to start with pen and paper,
then to have such tools in hand after a scan,
        to experiment, results instantly! Beginning
        to REALLY love technology!

Yes, I do appreciate free expression,
        reading the work of others,
        excahnging views, but
        stop short of comparing,
        that one is better than
        another, when all come
        straight from the heart!

        Thank you, maa!

I love your poem, too ... how kind and loving are your words ... I am so blessed ...

    thank you ...

ps. please, would you mind submitting this lovely poetic offering into margaret's bird-day-contest for maa ?

      Marion,

I've only known you for a short time,
so I included all the things I discovered
about you! I bet birdie just knows something
is up---she's on the board, again!

I have some more variations of the drawing---
      will post in comments.

I have always preferred not to enter contests.
      Possible to link without entering???
