She tries to fight but flounders
Pushing her way out
But getting pushed to the ground
Where's the key to life
That everyone else seems to grasp
reaching out to find it and take hold of it
Only to see it slip between her fingers
tumbling into a ditch, a pit
She finds herself immersed in blackness
Clawing at the sides to find a way out
The ground comes up to meet her
A strangled, far away cry is heard
But noticing it's from a heart stirred
Tears flow from down her cheeks
Trying to get up but finds herself to weak
Where does it all end?
Why does it all come crashing down again?
She picks up the pieces of her shattered life
Everyone thinking it a normal life
Can't they hear her strangled cries?
Tripping and stumbling along
Her life song
Playing a cold and mellow tune
Taking another step
Building a wall around herself
She lifts her head high
Facing the world as it comes
The facade will end
When reality sets in
Will someone come, heal and mend
This broken spirit and tattered heart
But in the end she and this world will part
Is it always to be the key just beyond her grasp
Her life going on to be lifeless and dull
Or will she have found the reason to live
A new hope and song in her soul
