As I walk this lonely road
images of you become scattered.
You ran with me when I was last,
and talked to me when no one else would.
I smiled even when you made fun of me
just so I could see you smile in return.
We flirted off and on, but it was nothing
because I wouldn't allow it to be more.
I wanted to keep these memories, and
not make them tainted over the years.
That is how I wish to remember you...
...how you remember me is different.
You saw me as the damsel in distress,
and tried to be a knight in shinning armor.
It was sweet of you, but you didn't have to.
I understood that it was the church boy in you....
Author notes
Well I know you wanted dark, but alas I couldn't...funny how I couldn't. Oh well hope you like.

Pleasant
Nice, I like the sort of back handedness of lines 5 and 6. Thanx for entering... good luck!
