Feathered Blessings (Video Slam)

Missing image

I know a magic lady
her name you must have heard
her gentle heart is blessed by
the Spirit of the Bird

And since today’s her birthday
her friends have a surprise
a very special bird-day
Bird’s Spirit in disguise

will come in many colors
in different form and dress
each one a gift to offer
with love and peace to bless

The chickadee’s the first one
she blesses her with joy
the blackbird gladly follows
brings music to enjoy

When heron wades towards her
with dignity he bows
when peacock joins the party
much elegance he shows

Now cardinal’s arriving
brings self-esteem along
with swallow’s gift of swiftness
our bird-guest can’t go wrong

The raven brings profoundness
the robin open heart
the magpie offers magic
the turtledove new start

When owl gifts her with wisdom
and hummingbird brings dreams
and eagle offers vision
with happiness she beams

Now tears of joy are flowing
while she prepares a speech
she thanks them for their blessings
the love and joy they teach

She says : “I shall protect you
behold your gifts with care
Please know that through my actions
your blessings I shall share !”

This is delightful, and I will revisit. I have written of ravens, cardinal, hummingbird, peacock, eagle and woodpecker. My avatar, the owl, I used before I discovered indian spirit guides researching for a shamanic tale I wrote, "Old grey wolf and half moon owl" (which I am recommending) and discovered that is my sign. Thanks for your wonderful critique on "Aversion", which I have edited a little more...
  • Sweet!!!

Uplifting, inspiring & made me smile...
After reading so much dark poetry up here, it was lovely to come across this little gem of light...
Touching with a great narrative, rhythm, rhyme & flow...
    Well done!!!

Oh! I love this bird day poem...I do have birds but they are the domesticated kind..but I watch the hosts of others that come to share in the bounty of food that the peacocks and guineas and chickens scatter. I consider them all "feathered blessings"

  • Such a serene, peaceful face is that you? I love the birdie on your head I also love your words, that reflect your inner peace and Soul. I'm sure you touched the heart of your friend "MagicLady". You incorporated a whole menagerie of feathered feelings! A beautiful Blessing!!

    Well Done, my Friend!
Congrats on the (well deserved) Gold!

happy it didn't scare you too much ...

thank you so much for your visit,
      many blessings,

    amazing !!

    Marion,
I feel so very blessed to get this gift from you. The wonderful poem was more than I could expect, but then you topped it off with a video. I have listened to it at least a dozen times and sent several friends to show it off. Thank you, Thank you, Thank YOU.

Even with all the birds you used in your poem, you didn't hit my two favorites. I know I will not be able to write something as lovely but I will write something about my favorite bird for YOUR bird day.

This poem is so much fun, and I enjoyed learning about the gifts of the birds. Your rhymes are lovely and fun to read. I found a reference for your birdie Garuda,

      yes, that's garuda !
the french name is "mésange" ...
I knew the english one would rather be "great tit" than "chickadee" (I think an american species with slightly different features) ... but I just love the name chickadee ! it's so joyful and playful, like her ...

thank you so much for your lovely smile and visit on cheryl's bird-day-poem-page ...

This is wonderful, maa! The whole presentation it simply gorgeous! I love your little cardinal in a horse chestnut tree. Your poem puts me in mind of the German children's song about the marriage of the birds.

    float light as a feather
    honoring your beloved birds
as well as the most special
    Magic Lady.

    Beautiful picture of both subjects!

    Superb!

More than pretty and happy (as The Goes lady said), and you do look both to the nth degree, you look prehapilly...which is Yem for happy, pretty and silly which is the greatest compliment any human can receive...other than Moxielicious.

The poem is beautiful with unobtrusive rhyme that accentuates the beauty.

I have just been told that it was your birthday yesterday so "Happy belated 18th birthday!" I'll be 18 in July!

    Lovely poem, ignore my silliness.
