As I sat a dreamin in my chair
I looked around to see a Woodpecker there
Acrobatic and colourful as he fed
The waiting Chaffinch shook his head
Sat here watching so patiently
To see if he comes down from his tree
The Blue the Great and long tailed tits
Dancing with Coal tits toowits and fits
The song Thrush and the Nightingale
The Lapwing and the Curlews wail
The woods alive from the winters pain
Comforts me time and time and time again
The Trembling Heaths on a hot sunny day
Hold ,Hobby,Nightjar and Woodlarks at play
The Jurassic coast where Falcons breed
Fulmer, Ravens and Puffin does feed
Pristine waters splash green below
Guillemots,Rock Pipit ,Thrift doth grow
Inside and outside the birds come to me
Because its simple,"I open my eyes to see"!

I liked all the references to the names of the birds. I had to look up the Chaffinch, I was not familiar with that one at all. I guess because he is more of a European bird.
I agree about your last verse, "I open my eyes to see"!
So many people take the birds for granted, and never see them even though they are right in front of them all the time.
Thank you for the poem, it is very much appreciated.
