You always go back
to the beginning at the end-
this is the way it is,
how it will be, and
how it has always been.
At death, loss, at night,
even in crisis or disaster-
you never fail to reminisce
on the things that really matter
and how it all began.
Always reliving and thinking
of those moments; their
importance never diminishes in meaning
no matter how insignificant
it seems to matter to others.
You tell me
there's no going back at the end,
But I tell you there is.
There is a continuation:
every new beginning
comes from some other beginning's end.
And so I say again:
You always go back to the beginning
in the end.
to the beginning at the end-
this is the way it is,
how it will be, and
how it has always been.
At death, loss, at night,
even in crisis or disaster-
you never fail to reminisce
on the things that really matter
and how it all began.
Always reliving and thinking
of those moments; their
importance never diminishes in meaning
no matter how insignificant
it seems to matter to others.
You tell me
there's no going back at the end,
But I tell you there is.
There is a continuation:
every new beginning
comes from some other beginning's end.
And so I say again:
You always go back to the beginning
in the end.

Ironic I'm writing this in response to a comment while I'm doing my midterm on Deutch Vergangheitsbewältigung, or coming to terms in Germany with the German past.

A lot of truth to this. I think alot of relationships could be saved if people took more time to remember the beginning.
My best man was a civil war reinactor. Here is a poem i just wrote for him

We have a saying in karate. Like life, kata always begins and ends at the same spot. This reminded me of that great job.

I like it; very simple but powerful. I thought it flowed very well and... hm. I totally agree with the idea ~ I'm not sure what else to say. It's such a self-contained poem, and so elegantly written, that I feel like anything I say will just be cluttering it up. So, great write!
