I’ve covered the miles these past few years
Had a few close calls, but I had no fears
Didn’t have a reason to go home
Out on that highway all alone
The night we met – I knew right then
I wanted so bad to see you again
The chances that you felt the same
Were slim to none, I know the game
But one winter day in Idaho,
Could barely see through all the snow
Thought that I wouldn’t make it through
Lookout Pass, just to get to you
So I could tell you just how I feel
That’s when I knew this love was real
Still couldn’t be the adventurous stranger
Couldn’t strike that bell or bide that danger
And I wondered ‘til it drove me mad
What would have followed if I had
‘Cause I felt so deeply into you
But I was still too scared to tell the truth
Too afraid to say just how I felt
That when I’d think of you, my heart would melt
Then on a snowy night in Washington
I thought my life was almost done
Thought that I wouldn’t make it through
Those mountains, just to get to you
Down snow-slicked roads just spinnin’ wheels
That’s when I knew this love was real
When I finally told you, I was terrified
But then I could see it in your eyes
Now I know just how you feel
That’s how I know this love is real
That’s how I know this love is real
That’s how I know this love is real
Author notes
Written for her from the heart. I listen to a lot of country music, and I hear this kind of in Eric Church's voice, if you know who that is

Awwww, this is a beautiful love song! I love country music so that is what initially caught my attention. I do know who Eric Church is, and I think he would sound great singing this. Great job on some wonderful lyrics!!!

Ok yeah, so you know I'm an emotional sap right now so yes, this made me cry. I love seeing this side of you especially since I'm used to the cocky a$$ side. This really could be a country song. How're those guitar lessons coming along??

Okay, so I read the poem and the whole time I was singin' a country song in my head (before I read your comments), so you have done a perfect job with this! I don't know Eric Church, but I do know country music, and it could even be sung in a sweet, humorous kind of way, like the older country songs where they were kind of telling the story to the music instead of singing, kind of in between.
Thanks for sharing, GunRunner!
I just noticed the title says (country song)! Oops... well, I didn't even read the title, I just clicked on your link and started reading the poem, but maybe subconsciously my mind read it and that's why I started singing it. haha!

Thanks Much!
Try looking up the song His Kind Of Money (that's what was on the radio when I was writing this). Thanks for reading, was worried whether I got the point across!
