Kitesurfer or Eagle?

You really ought to know that by now.
I hope I've not given it away.
Singing songs that are too relevant.

Yes, you're my hero. Not just mine.
I've always adored those who can be who I'm not.
But I know I'm not flying either.

You are the wind, soaring high above.
I am a kitesurfer, far below.
You're the only thing keeping me above water.

Author notes

Inspired by the following song lyrics:

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings

What do you think of the structure?

Ohhhhhh! How clever. Lots of brilliant contrasts between the up and the down, and the good metaphors used.

Only suggestion I have is to let go of most of the punctuation. Poetry needs to ' f l y ' and in this case, it is a perfect example of why it has to.

    Wonderful piece!
