this grey owl
with eyes so bold
makes me wonder
what he thinks
he bats no eye
and buffs his chest
he’s surely decided
to test my guts
discomfort I feel
and start to strut
to show whose boss
and king ‘round here
no move he makes
and stares head-on
I huff and puff
to knock his grace
my brave attempts
have made no dent
and raving mad
he’s made me now
forewarned he is
and stupid am I
no truce he gives
to dunce like me
this grey owl
with eyes so bold
now wonders what
I think of him

Congratulations on the HM. These words to the wise make perfect sense. Large birds of prey fear nothing except a larger bird of prey. Write on my friend write on.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

I really enjoyed this beautiful poem. There is an owl in my back yard and in the evening we can sit and hear him "whoo... whoooo... This poem made me think of him.

I wish
we had one in our back yeard. Not many in the city, but I do have wonderful memories of them when living as youngster in the country side. Thanks for stopping by. Frans

GRIN ...
a nice twist in the tail ... lol in a wink of an eye, the transition is made!
I wrote my own last stanza, could not resist:
this grey fool
with eyes that blink
makes owl wonder
what I think
Hahahahahaha.
Nope not really ... you are no fool.

Love
Myra
