This boy
who scrawls furiously
attempting creation
with impotent words he lusts to please.
His humour infectious, momentarily
we connect.
Communicate, an illicit glance, smile,
hesitate, a moment of shared
knowledge intimate for us.
We both aware of a truth
unspoken, undreamt of
undesired, yet so implicitly there.
But our reality too evident.
Defiant compliance ensures
what is unknown and unspoken
must always remain
little more than contact.
Eye upon eye
mouths momentarily reflective,
not even a hesitant step is permitted.
Too private, too wrong, we alone
can regard, nothing more.
Undeniable and incontrovertible
to this
voiceless recognition of a fact,
that someone is to blame.
