That Time Again.

Alone in thought,

My mind wanders back

To a time of joy and love,

When we'd walk together

Hand in hand along the shoreline,

Comforted by each others presence,

Solid as rock,

Excited by the thought

Of being together forever,

Not knowing what the future had in store,

Blind to the misery of what was to come.

Now I sit!

Waiting for that open door to close,

Watching as the sands of time

Slip away grain by grain,

Longing for this pain to end,

Unsure whether you know I'm here,

Broken by what fate has dealt us,

Aching for that time again.

In a list

Please tell me what you think

A really sad poem, one for which this is much the same story all around yet gives us less sympathy than we really deserve. Watching for that open door to close is like saying, I am not getting enough opportunities to open it again. A true lament!
