Lessons unlearnt

All the things that we were taught
we've left behind in the street
hard to make our way in the world
no mothers love to guide us now
and everything are parents taught
are all just lessons unlearnt

And I'm still making the same mistakes
that I have made all my life
hard to understand why
it's just that I don't have a choice
all the lessons I learnt
have been forgotten

So give me a reason why
I should carry on making
the same mistakes
again.
