At times, life is an endless progression of first times
most of which pass with little recognition.
However, some are important,
more than we could imagine,
it is these that must be acknowledged.
Your first word,
your first step,
your first love.
Meeting you, Jim was like this for me.
With one word,
with a single glance,
you made me aware,
more alive
than I ever thought possible.
And so it remains, th'y'la.
that each time we touch,
that we make love,
it is as the first time.
most of which pass with little recognition.
However, some are important,
more than we could imagine,
it is these that must be acknowledged.
Your first word,
your first step,
your first love.
Meeting you, Jim was like this for me.
With one word,
with a single glance,
you made me aware,
more alive
than I ever thought possible.
And so it remains, th'y'la.
that each time we touch,
that we make love,
it is as the first time.
Author notes
Th'y'la means more than a friend, more than a brother, more than a lover. It is a made up word. I didn't make it up though Star trek's creator Gene Roddenberry did. And it's a favorite word of mine to use when it comes to a very close relationship.

Your comment on my poem FIRST TIME
Yes, I thought it interesting too. And true how many times have we done things for the first time and never stopped to think.. Hey now... this is a first.
I think that Gene Roddenberry must have been a very special person who saw the future... He saw a time when people would accept people for who and what they were. No judging others badly for their religion, clothing, race, etc. He saw a time when people would get along and unite for the betterment of all people.
I can only hope that he was correct in his vision.

your comment on my poem THE FIRST TIME
yes, if only we could capture that First time quality for all our life. Not just when we happen to notice it.
