I have enjoyed good times where I had plenty
And hard times where spare change was scanty.
When working for others, I've found no joy.
I am too independent; a disaster to employ.
It is not that I do not know how to work,
But employee politics drives me berserk.
Self employment is like walking on a ledge;
A miscalculation and you fall off the edge.
Even so, I would not have it any other way.
Addicted to the thrill, instead of secure pay.
Standing on my two feet, I am the only one
To reap glory or blame, when the day is done.

Indeed all the assholes in the world have taken up the jobs as boss and they think they have the right to treat everyone terribly -

Been jilted by the ignorant
yet the bosses favorite indeed
and made to play the game of sincless greed
fought to keep my possision
for he was losing dow
yet still I was let go

It really is a balancing act to be self employed but I understand your need for independence. Some of us were just meant to work for ourselves. This is a nice write! Patty

Thank you for reading and commenting. At one time I was a good employee. But, I cant do it anymore. I just cant get past working my ass off for someone for no extra pay.

aww i love the last stanza, it was fun and flowed an insy better and all together this was a great poem
lovely job and thanks for entering and yeah i do like the whole freedom in that, lol. (technically i have no boss right now and yet i do get bossed around, uhg!)
