Brothers

Politicians use soldiers
to provide you with
the freedom you deserve

We proudly wear the uniform of our country
medals hanging upon our chest
are earned from the courage of our actions

We use all our resources
to provide the freedom
each of you richly deserve

We hear each other’s screams and cries
we feel each other’s pain
we hold each other in our darkest hours

We survived through hell itself
we will forever wear the uniform with pride and
we live and die, as brothers

    but why,
it is no one persons task to clean up a mess too big, and one they didn't make.
great poem, even though it makes me questoin things and shed a tear for our soldiers.

    Great write good Sir Knight,

I really liked the last part. It really is true. In this world, we need it to be true. Hold yourself up with pride and take things as the come. Everyone has a time to die, some sooner than others but stand together and be strong united as a brother ship.

    Dear Ed,
I'm very proud to be your friend and know that you, Australia, New Zealand and America are fighting to keep us safe. It must feel like you're in hell when you're out on the battlefield. I thank you and everyone else in the armed forces. I can imagine the bond that exists between you and the soldiers that stand with you.
    Beautifully expressed my friend.
    Love Joan

The freedom we enjoy and often take so much for granted comes at a very high price for some. There are people who say military people sign up knowing full well what they might face and are trained and prepared for the eventuality of war but I think no one knows how they will feel or react to it until the day they face it for real. There has to be a mutual bond between the men who face this and I think you have described it in one simple word, ... Brothers.

  • wow! very well penned to state facts, our countries are ruledby very few who care who lives or dies, they do not live in war zones and chance the take of deadly wounds, thank you for this entry good luck in this contest...

  • WOW!

A very powerful piece you have penned! Makes the heart cry tears of compassion and understanding....definitely brought tears to this reader's eyes.....so well done here...best of luck to you....much love...smiles, Terry

  • Now that's what I call a clear and concise declaration of what you truly feel. You wrote with such conviction and I could feel not only the pride you have in the uniform you wear and the job you do but your sorrow for fallen comrades. That feeling will never be eased by medals or parades. The flag waving is a nice thing but the pain still remains. You honour those who serve alongside you.

My very best wishes are with you in this contest as they always are.

    Love Margaret
