I can feel the tv melting my brain;
Yet I must keep staring into 'pixelated' bliss.
Keeping my eyes open with match sticks to refrain,
From the infernal blinking so I won't miss,
A second of entertainment.
I can feel my intelligence slipping,
As I stare blankly at the television.
This once average 130 IQ ripping,
Into tiny pieces with precision.
Been staring for about 16 hours,
And this show never gets old.
My eyes water and devour,
The stories consoled.
I could sit here for days,
Watch for weeks and weeks.
While my brain pays,
And begins to leak.
Ok now I feel really dumb,
It has turned me into a moron.
I was staring at nothing until mum,
Actually turned the tv on.
Author notes
I'm not sure if you found this funny but this was inspired from the quote. It reminds me of me in front of the tv, that show never gets old!

I loved this!
This was really good! I read the quote first and could not see the connection, but then that last stanze got me. I started chuckling about the IQ part. I think this fits the quote perfectly, and very funny. xD

Great Job. I think that television is like many other things in life.....it has to be in moderation. If over done it could become an addiction. I really liked this poem. Thanks for sharing it. It really does tell the truth.

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.
Groucho Marx
I love that quote... good luck
