I watch the Autumn leaves swirl as they fall
Making way for winter as it comes to call
Sprawled leaves lie on the ground a blanket of death
Steam vapors out from my every single breath
I think of this girl who’s name was Beth
She died last Autumn from crystal meth
At her funeral there were only three
Her brother, mother, and there was me
Into the next life addiction free.
I hope a better reality.
Twenty one years and walking the street.
Older than her years walking her beat.
Trading money with men for sexual deceit.
Her body slowly succumbed to deaths defeat
That was not much left of her life to recall
I watch the Autumn leaves swirl as they fall
