Beauty lies within the skin,
the tenderness of what's beneath.
Keeping what is sweet inside,
by what protects it so thin.
Biting in to see inside,
we divulge in it's flavor.
Take one piece at a time,
leaving it naked to the core.
Seeds are then planted to fill the earth,
with it's magnificent variety.
Author notes
Am I speaking of an apple, or the love I once had. Your choice.
Short and sweet I say.

A great metaphor for love, and it also works for the apple as well. Very nicely written. Good luck in the contest.
