Going back in time, to that exhilarating feeling of youth
When life was a stage and I was the star of the show
I floated on air, like the billowing clouds
and I danced the night through and my heart was aglow
No shallowness of mind, I was wide eyed and free
My innocence concealed within a heart searching for love
one sensuous being, unafraid, absorbing life itself
sailing in the wind with the sky above
Now in the twilight years of my life
I reflect on those moments with awe
For time passes so quickly, and life still goes on
and this old heart feels somehow quite raw
Yet deep inside the corners of my mind
memories are stirred by wondrous works of art
the wondrous smell of a dozen red roses
and the face of the one who stole my heart.

wonderful word choice to express how love can affect someone's being through the passage of time and still feel as though relatively untouched by others. great emotive piece of work, best wishes to you.

I kinda wish I knew how old you are. I get the feeling you have done a lot of living. I wonder if the roses in the last part represent a funeral. Nice poem and the words a re so true
