Love was all we knew

In the beginning
you were the sad words
of a tormented, troubled woman

Over time
I learned the depth
of the heart, that spoke so softly

Later
I fell far in love
with the beauty of your heart

In a distant cabin
you made me love you deeply
In a single day, you were my life dream

Together we discovered
the glorious beauty, of new love
You became my amazing, redheaded girl

In soft words
we professed our adoration
exchanging promises...  to never let go

Seeing you wet

and so softly beautiful

I could have not loved you more

Watching you

knowing how you loved me
your soul became my song,  for all my life

and I promised
to always be faithful
and never,  cause you fear

to hold you

as my wife... over time

and you sealed my love in moonlite

These are the memories
I hold close, in my dreams at night
A time when love was never ending and  forever

A time
before I became
a man, so very human

Before you changed me

when you believed so deeply, in us

Before my words were removed and rewritten

When you needed me
and I was a hero to you
and love... was all we knew

I miss, the real you

Lee

Author notes

I am reminiscing from my dreams
I can no longer pray, I am too disappointed
The light that was once so clear, now seen as falted deeds

I think I never knew you, so lost in your inner fear
Sometimes it is easer to run away, than believe how life can be
and we grasp a lesser dream that we can see, and then the devil became me.

Such a painful ending! I really was so touched by every stanza and felt myself recalling past life and all that was beautiful. It's really unfair when two have so many promises and beautiful things to share, thinking that they will stay the same forever only to change later on:

    A time
    before I became
    a man, so very human

Such deep words that reflect our truth as humans... that change.

    Love
    ~Noor

Your soul speaks such passion yet such sorrow, this truly is beautiful, but I feel your pain and disappointment.
"Watching you knowing how you loved me
your soul became my song, for all my life"
I love this stanza, this describes the passion for love
that make you who you are..Never give up hope your dreams but most of all your desire to love and be loved..

xxoo, your friend always and forever, Brenda

I can relate to those lines, very beautiful writen and put together. I don't know why we all have to change to something that only drive us away from those who love us the most...
Thank you for writing this beautiful poem.

These lines really hit home, Humanity, the one thing that sets us apart from animals, is also the one thing that can cause so much pain and sorrow. Excellent penning poet

Come with me upon the wings and firm wrungs of Jacob's Ladder

Come with me on tender wings..upon the firm wrungs of
    Jacob's Ladder...where feelings are music..and our ears
    the soul of written lyrics...
Do you hear the melodies of the souls on earth, their lyrics speaking, singing from each soul's living heart.

So easy it was to believe,
    they you were..not a part...
does it not make you ask.....
    now that you hear....powerfully
What makes each spirit want... to live on,
Is it the struggle, or the dreams,
    that make us hold on?
Piercing your heart of all misbeliefs,
gently you climb down each step and wrung,
    returning to earth safely,
and yes....the music fills your heart,
    healing and tenderly...
for you dear loved one..my brother and friend,
    were boldly loved...courageously, and fully.
    Treasure each tear..and understand wisely,
you are a soul of salt...not created to be alone
    you are a part..of all..of us.
Love is a garden that will return,
beautiful blossoms to fill your soul once
    again.
much love and respect for you,
    ears/Seattle sis

this is so beautifully sad my friend. I have many thoughts as I read this. How easy and wonderful it is falling in love, as that is when everything is good, as you talk about so perfectly with amazing imagery and emotion.
After time we reveal ourselves, we hope and pray love is strong and deep enough to endure the bad and good.
    love and blessings,

Certainly this fits the contest title to perfection. If being sorry...and offering another human being the essence of ones soul...could mend a broken faith and heart...this would be the poem to accomplish that. I hope that someone you would love this deeply from you very soul, would be able to love you back with a passion that requires forgivness as well as adoration. There is so much more to lasting love than star light and deep sighs.
