That moment when your eyes catch,
Not a boy across a room,
But the gaze of someone standing
In a matching black allure,
That sparkling attire
Made solely for yourself,
As a snug and slinky skin
Displayed first on someone else.
Not a boy across a room,
But the gaze of someone standing
In a matching black allure,
That sparkling attire
Made solely for yourself,
As a snug and slinky skin
Displayed first on someone else.
Author notes
Not particularly descriptive, I know, but that's what hit me when I read the prompt. Reality is all those little moments when the world breaks function and something so trivial - like another girl wearing the same dress - makes you crumble just a little inside. Suddenly, the graceful dream of existence is, if only for a moment, broken.

i like your explanation for the poem, those brief little moments where your perception of being unique are jumbled and garbled. very nicely done and thanks for sharing!
