Chasing Fleeting Hope

So often my mother has said
Things that my grandmother had-
About God’s answering prayers…

I suffered through these past three years
Waiting for an answer to allay my fears
That all my striving had been in vain…

I got the answer yesterday in an envelope mailed
From a figure from my past in Sittard, Netherlands.
For this I had been waiting three, long years…

Most people think that God says yes or no,
But more often His response is not so clearly so-
More often His answer is to wait.

The letter read: fight is over, the battle won;
The truth-I had succeeded in what I had begun;
Clearing the way for true religious vocations.

Often since I left the convent, at home now living,
God has spoke to me, “Come, rise. Let us be going.”
You need to move on He says to me.

He tells me often through human messengers
That He has in store for me it seems,
If I continue to hope, great plans for my future.

If I can make it past this depression,
And believe for me He has some mission,
I will be okay.  But until then, pray for me.

My life is in a fog; the light is in obscurity,
Hidden somewhat behind the clouds enveloping me.
So pray I do not give up hope.

I do not want to lose eternity, the promised Homeland
Of heaven; the path I’m on right now I don’t understand.
But be a support to me, and I just may make it there.

    An extremely touching write, it shows great emotion and sorrow, but also a lot of hope ahead. I was never a fan of unconventional rhyming patterns, but this one really caught my attention and I reward you for pulling off something I'm sure not many can. Beautiful write and thanks for sharing with the AP community. My best wishes and accolade to you.

    Very nicely written, reality through faith. I can relate to the depression (currently seeing therapy myself) and know that it is most often best ot have your trust in a higher power and believe that there is some kind of plan for you. Very beautiful and touching. Thanks for sharing!
