Those we have known and loved
Are not very far away at all.
They were lifted up by angels,
Who were Heaven sent.
They will always be with us.
Their spirits will live on…
There within our hearts,
Though we are apart.
We hold them close in our memories.
We know,
One day,
We will be reunited
As we, ourselves, will be
Lifted up by angels,
Who will be Heaven sent.

Death is something we all must face somewhere. Your words at least make it something not quite as dreary (if that makes sense.) Knowing we have angels up there, and that one day we will be the guiding angels to those down here somehow makes it more tolerable.
Good luck in the contest.

This poem reminds me of something I keep in my hearts hopechest. For you it's meeting that someone special, a relative, or relatives rather. For me, it's a loving pet, my lab. I guess we all have dreams of the one who will wait on the other side for us. Very good.

I, as well, will be looking forward to meeting a few of my pets who have gone on at the 'Rainbow Bridge'. I have a poem around here somewhere that someone sent to me after I lost my beloved cat. The poem centers around meeting your pets again at the Rainbow Bridge. This is what your comment reminds me of.
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I appreciate it. Take care. Love and hugs...

well written with everlasting hope and heartfelt comfort that encompasses the soul knowing the many or even few that have been taken from us in any amount of severity and be comforted by His wisdom and angelic graces that they are protested as they now protect and watch over us. when I lost my dad when I was almost 15 it was to long terminal illness; my mom had been in hospice almost 5 months and my mother in law to Cancerafter a 16 yr remission. thank you for entering and many blessings always xxx

Very Heartfelt.
Donna, Your words are so comforting to those of us who have lost loved ones. As you know I lost my son Brian last year. This is a sad time for me because his birthday falls on Mother's Day this year. Your poem has touched me and comforted me. Thank you for that and Bless you always.
Lovely Poem!!!

Sandy,
I've always said that if one of my poems touches just one heart, then it has been worth it. It's been worth it. I am glad that this has touched you and helped to comfort you. You are welcome, my friend. Take care. Love and hugs...

Oh that's tragic in your author's notes! But your poem gives the eternal hope that we're not really gone when we die. I believe it and it's lovely to read a poem about it written by someone who does too.
Peace Georgia

Georgia,
A person is never really gone until they are forgotten. As long as we cling to their memory, they are still here with us.
