of the tunneling thicket
each skinny branch
covered in brawny twigs
embalming green leaves
smell of sweet life
glow of warming sun
feeding the warm breeze
buzzing of significant beings
eyes of lazy silence
drinking in the time
alone but fulfilled
Author notes
I love those days in the summer, where you have nothing going on, and you have all the time in the world to do whatever you like. Instead of doing everything that could keep you busy, you venture out and find a quiet place and are alone to the beauty of the laziness of the day.

This reminds me of savored summer days as a child at my Grandma's house. Nicely alliterated "close confinement" and "tunneling thicket." I had to look it up to learn that embalming could mean "giving a balmy fragrance," which fits the rest of this piece beautifully.
Very sensory "smell of sweet life." I particularly enjoyed "buzzing of significant beings." Most of us could benefit from more ventures into "lazy silence, drinking in time, alone but fulfilled." Very nice title, born out well by your selections of focus. I enjoyed this.

Beautiful. It is so wonderful to just enjoy what nature has to offer. It's so peaceful and warm. It's a very comforting feeling. Great write.

Those days are wonderful when they come along; too few and far between. Nice to read about them in this poem.

This poem is full of movement and life. The only image that strikes me as out of place is the "emblaming green leaves" that "smell of sweet life." That seems a bit twisted but perhaps I am seeing "embalming" as encompassing death while you are seeing it differently.
Excellent moment captured in poetry.

I love those days. I don't have them anymore. I used to sit outside and read a book all summer long. Now I have things I need to do.

This is very good, immediate and to the point. Wonderful imagery in this poem. It reminds me of my childhood and just existing and enjoying the moments that make up life, instead of worrying and anticipating like we adults do.
