The dark brings hope,
Its the light that brings fear.
The light illuminates and only exagerates
the thing I miss.
The thing I crave
The thing I hate.
The old me.
The new me.
The thing I was made to be
The life I was destined to lead
The dark soothes me.
The creatures of dusk suck on my blood. They help.
They slowly absorb the life I ruined.
The life that I will ruin.
Waking up to the counterfit rays of beauty
that warms and appeases us makes me sick.
It burns my skin, and gives me unwanted false hope.
When the beast that bites hot finally sets
and my friend rises. I worship him.
I sit and pray. My bestial insides diminish in his power.
The moon. It banishes my fear. When it is full I am free.
It is this i long for. Yet i fear it also.
Relative and absolute freedom.
Something that he has condemned me of.

Just as a note; the background was a little harsh on the eyes in contrast to the color of the words. Otherwise this is a well articulated and thoughtful piece that I can very much relate to especially in my earlier years when I saw my life spiraling out of control. One of the interesting things in this piece is your realization that your nightly granted freedoms are something to fear as well, a very good point to make indeed. And, almost in the same stride I almost get the feeling like you become a werewolf just in the way you worded the lines, lol. One minor spelling error: line 15: it should be 'counterfeit', sorry I did not get a chance to comment before the contest closed so that you can have the chance to correct that, you will not be penalized for it
Thanks for your entry and best of luck!

"The moon. It banishes my fear. When it is full I am free" makes me think this is about being a werewolf. Am I even close? Great imagery.
