Is it just me, or the guideline created by society?
When you observe my fair skin, does Caucasian come to mind?
But my curly hair and freckles, make me another kind?
If I were to straighten my hair, would it be less a tease,
And provide you more ease to decipher my category?
How about we try this on for size.
Just take a minute and gave into my eyes.
Maybe, you'll come to find,
Possibly even realize,
That I have just been human the whole time.
Surprised?
Author notes
I just wanted to touch on the subject of how human kind has the tendency to want to place people in thier categories based on appearance. I am what you would call "interracial". I am Black, White, Irish, and Native American. So when people look at me, this wonder what I am and where I stand. I have light skin like a white person, freckles like an irish person, curly hair and dark brown eyes. I even have the the highcheek bones of a native american. So, needless to say, I am one confusing item. What I don't understand is...why does it matter if we are all of the smae species...homosapien!
Please tell me what you think

NICE! I love this questioning of how our society ranks us by physical characteristics when in reality we are all more alike than different. Love it. Love you AND missed you A LOT! BUT I'm back now so come on and write some moooore!

You bring up very valid and important questions here. I really like how you end this piece, it drives the point home. Well done.
