A hundred eyes keep vigil
with overweening pride,
a tail fanned out in arrogance
for to catch a bride.
Displaying all his assets,
he primps and dandifies,
parading self assurance
as a female he espies.
A hundred eyelids flicker
airs and graces he displays,
she, taken by his flirting
yields to narcissistic ways.
His egocentric courtship
once over, struts away,
to leave his bride cold-shouldered
whilst he searches further prey.

Those flirty pea(cocks) ... birds and humans have so many similar actions. That includes the ones who mate for life as well.

The prized peacock feather is something that I used to have in my home in a bouquet of flowers. They are just so beautiful
I like the line about " A hundred eyelids flicker", well done poet.

LOL, sounds like some guys I've known. Nice job. I love peacocks. When I was a young child, Dad would take my sister and me to a bird sanctuary where a peacock lived. We couldn't wait to see if that bird had his feathers spread. It was always nice when he did. I like your rhymint skill. Shancy.
