I met a modern day Pirate**

 **1989**I was in my prime.
19* & living in dreams,
Pregnant & full of *Life*.
Shopping in town with my brothers wife,
her new baby in arm; we new no harm.

Stopped in for lunch at a cute little place,
my adorable niece covered in lace.
A stranger in need we happened to meet,
He said for our help we were so sweet.

How do I get to the greyhound station?
for pick up my mother I must.
To assist we felt pure elation.
We gave directions you can trust.
To go downtown he was afraid,
A suggestion to him she made.
my brothers wife didn't have a knife
but a gun full of mace in it's place.
that would do the trick,
our heads were so thick.

full of pride -
our innocent minds;
no need to hide.

One more thing he wanted to do,
Hold my money? would you -could you?
Till I return, can i trust you two???
Hmm, ok* we said, we felt no dread.
He showed us how the money to hide,
In a small bag with our money inside.
Hide it like this,as he stuffed in his pants;
Hide it well don't take a chance.
So stuff we did, the money was hid.
wait for me here, the man was so dear.
An hour passed by, where is that guy?
Need our money for lunch,
open the bag, no need to nag.
Shredded newspapers
there was a bunch!

Author notes

Hey, we were Young & DUMB!
we never thought that people really did this kind of
thing to each other...& People wonder why I
have a hard time with trust?
By the way, this is in Detroit MI.-
where i grew up.
I tried to shorten it, sorry if it's too
long?

Bait and switch... I think most folks have had some form of this scam pulled on them... but most folks won't admit it (LOL). Nice take and wonderful story. Good luck in the contest and thanks for sharing...

Brilliant take on the prompt...how do you regain trust in mankind if you find the answer i for one would really appreciate the answer...seem if you give you just keep on being taken down for a ride. I life in hope that the justice these people so deserve will one day come to haunt them and they will pay dearly for taking advantage of the trust and friendship i showed to them. Good luck in the contest.

      thank you,

We were able to "Dig up" enough change between us to pay for lunch; Luckily we hadn't ordered much.
We never heard the end of it from our familys, esp.
my brother -about her gun, that he gave her for protection.
He still brings that up sometimes.
Now neither of us can trust people very well.
