Man In The Mirror

mirror mirror on the wall
who's this stranger
standing tall
standing so proud
staring me right in the face
all i can see in his eyes
is a blood thirsty taste
a cold hearted mother fucker
with fire in his eyes
seeing him in the mirror
is an unpleasant surprise
knowing that he don't care
if i live or die
cause he'll swallow his blood
before he swallows his pride
looking back a few months
i don't remember him here
he started showing up
when i started facing my fears
his heart turned cold
when he stepped off of that plane
knowing that after experiencing war
he'd never be the same
doing things out of instinct
that he wouldn't normally do
no one really knows
the shit he's been through
he's scratching his trigger finger
and don't know what for
it just starts to itch
as his boot kicks the door
i relive the last year
every time i look at his face
remembering the kid he was
before he came to this God forsaken place
its kind of shocking
knowing the things he's done
and knowing the things
to which he's grown numb
i hope he stays a stranger
cause its him i never want to know
hopefully the last time i see him
is when i get on the plane back to home
i can't let him out
I've gotta push him down deep
and make sure i don't let him
through the pores and cracks seep

  • This is a poem that is both deep and indescribably good I could see his eyes and everything as if it were my reflection, very nice work

Well, I didn't forget about reading this piece

I admire your brutally honest straight forward personality.
It does help to put what you were getting at it part 2 which you'd previously entered in my contest. I saw a few other titles of yours and I look forward to reading them.
    Great poem.

I've read your poem 3 times because I found it really good and deep.
you know I used to know a friend that his parents were killed by american soldiers and yet this friend of mine he told me my parents have died to free a whole country and I asked him aren't you mad from those american soldiers and his answer was do you think they are happy when they are killing people do you think they sleep well they are just doing their duty to their country to the world and he added maybe sometimes the reasons they are fighting for are wrong but as I see it from my way they are helping other peoples and in war theirs always some innocent people that died but usually the rest of them are bad people that are not supposed to live in this world and the world is so much better without them and he added my parents was bad people you know I was shocked by this story because it's so strange like I mean they are his parents but who we are to judge him I think he knows them better than anyone.
anyway the point is from telling you this story is you don't have to think the way you are thinking maybe its hard to see that you are able to kill other people and that you are killing other people but you are doing it to save millions of other people and I'm not sure if that will be enough for you because I know it's so hard to feel so lost to feel that you don't know yourself but as I see you are just the same old man that is fighting to help others that he has take this job because he wanted to help others you are the same old person that have a conscience and that's why he feels guilty and you know it's good to feel guilty because it means that you know your limits and that you are not bad person but you are in a bad situation and you must survive and provide for the rest of the world the gift to live in peace yes my friend you are doing this you are making the world a better place for your family for your friends for me for us for humanity.

well first off. obviosly grammer and word choice wasnt you first priority which is understandable in the format. Second... the brutal honesty and depth that is created my your topic choice and word choice made the poem well worth reading.I have a friend who is going over sea's and right now hes very excited to go, but i know it won't be as easy as he expects. thank you for entering.
