Baby Lilly

Baby Lilly

Lilly arrived through the window of dreams,
while angels played harps descending on Earth.
She lit up our lives like woven moon beams.
Lilly arrived through the window of dreams.
She’s the binding thread of love in extremes
and gave us a purpose proclaiming our worth.
Lilly arrived through the window of dreams,
while angels played harps descending on Earth.

Author notes

Triolet:

A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.

Make writing a Triolet more challenging! Make each line 8 syllables in length (4 metrical feet),
written in iambic tetrameter (the more common way), or try it in pentameter (English version)
where each line only has 10 syllables(5 metrical feet

  • Sublime...

"Baby Lilly" was duly feasted in a TRIOLET of the Poet's heart, and from the Park of love everyone marveled observing the dance of a great Quill on clouds of sublimity.

When the literati wakes up they can say like me, EUREKA! Here we have found a true PULITZER PRIZE RECIPIENT!

    In respect and admiration,

    Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

Beautiful write. I liked the part of angels playing harps. It gave the poem a peaceful feeling to it. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

What a lovely poem for a new baby. In a beautiful form, I have been trying to write rhyming forms but I cannot make it beautiful like this.

this triolet touched me in particular ...
probably because of the childlike innocence and purity I felt radiating from your verse ...
a true masterpiece, simple and caring ...

    much love,
    maa

I loved this as I love all of your work.

I can truly say there is not ONE of the pieces I have read, that I do NOT love. And, as my friend Ken says, LOVE is such a STRONG WORD, Myra ... USE IT SPARINGLY.

    And I mean LOVE.

    Love

Beautiful poem, and I'm sure baby Lilly will be beautiful enough to justify it!

My babies are a little too large to ask for similar, BabyTerry is 6ft 1 and will be 26 next month...

It drifts away from its iambic moorings in places, but it is still a sweet poem. Do well in the contest, Sis.

iambic tetrameter; this is pentameter, never thought of using iamb. You dream in it so I guess you notice right away.

    Pure beauty is this!

I have figured you out. You are a poetic physicist. You take the rules of poetic form and create heavenly beauty.
