I stand at Heaven’s pearly gates,
St. Peter, God’s disciple, waits.
He welcomes me and as I enter,
I encounter Christ, my mentor.
Aglow in His amazing Light,
I behold a wondrous sight.
Friends and family I have missed
Come to greet me from the mist.
Happiness and joy abound
As they gather all around.
I feel at one with all I see,
This peace will last eternally.
Light as air and free from pain,
I feel as though I’m young again.
Every thought a pleasant one,
My reward has just begun.
There are others yet to see,
Joseph and his wife, Mary.
All the saints who’ve gone before,
All the people I adore.
Never have I known such bliss,
I’m enthralled by all of this.
Bathed in beauty, sorrow past,
Safe in Heaven, home at last!

What an amazing poem about heaven you have written and sounds a lovely place to go toone day.
It's a pity that it's a non entry as it would do well in the contest.

This is the second poem about heaven that I've read today. Interesting. I loved this. Hopeful and it had a wonderful flow. Good luck in the contest!

I guess if I have to leave this earth I might as well decide to like where I'm going, and Heaven is a better alternative than the other direction.

I do admire those with faith, it seems to be comforting and your words are beautiful and almost make want to pack my bags now...but I'll wait.

Dear Maureen, This is simply exquisite and depicts how I see Heaven. I'm not ready to go yet but will embrace it when my time comes.
Beautifully written my dear Soul/Sister.
Love Joan

Dear Maureen,
I challenge all Huguenauties to write a poem about Heaven which has the simplicity of utterance, the beauty of thought and the clarity of vision with which this beautiful poem is infused. For me it sums up all I understand and believe of Heaven but only a much better person and poet than me could express it in such sublime and inspired words.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)
