Time is no bandage to wrap around this wound,
memory motes slip through spaces between seconds
to display their arrogance at recuperation.
The half-full smile falls to a frown
as juggled joys shatter against wall of remembrance.
Inch by inch; protection sheds skin
to constant lash of recurring thoughts,
and explosion of delayed verbiage.
Those cutting, thrusting phrases
laden with adjectives of annihilation.
Even wrapped within a sheath of shadows
does not stop stench of putrid scars,
spirals of nightmares smell their way
to softer threads of happiness,
tangling their wefts and wafts to produce
a tapestry of voyeuristic pain.

Nicely done. thanks for entering.

A deep and dark voice that fires within the lines - tames the phrases to search beyond what they appear. Nicely approached. And perfect for image.

Actions speak louder than words isn't always the case when we are subject to slashing words that leave open wounds to fester in time.. a sorrowful and painful way to sift out the pieces left in ones heart that only will reopen again when reflecting..
A most emotional, dark piece, written brilliantly off the prompt given!
My best to you in this contest sweet brother!
Jazzy
