This isn't what I expected,
sitting on the seat of life.
Marygolds seive through depression into Monsters.
My first breath of life gave me hope,
with new eyes, I gazed upon new faces.
Time develops,
and the axis begins to tilt.
Relationships deepen,
harboring secrets.
Feelings wash over,
taking presidence over people,
washing away sands of priorities.
Pandora's box,
never to be opened for selfless reasons.
When all you want is to be selfish.

Welcome to Allpoetry
Hi JulietonaRose,
You have penned a poem that is so very true. The uncertanties of life not knowing whats around the corner can sometime be frightening, leaving us with anxiety. I think that sometimes it's ok to be selfish especially when you spend most of your time looking out and helping others. Great poem, keep up the writing
