All Things to All People

Missing image
Being all things to all people
may create a visual quite unusual
if all the personae shared the stage
in simultaneous life-affirming renewal!

Startling if viewed in a mirror
all components bared concurrently,
some vying for center-stage superiority,
some happy to guide, to lead ever so gently.

Unique, this view, if it could be seen,
not compartmentalized in single exposures
as we slide thru life assuming our varied duties
parenting, socializing, working, providing life's treasures

But too often don't we feel that way,
a parade of characters each having its say,
while we wonder at times just who we are today,
wizard, lover, condidant, friend, miracle-worker at play?

Beautiful sketch I guess we strive to be unique and valued but the only one to whom we can add value the most is.. to our own self- in the way we want.. wether through helping, creating, inventing, caring.. whichever way... Brilliant thought

Yes, we are the only ones to set the path,
to determine for ourselves which is the
priority of the moment, the day.

This work continues to morph. What an incredible piece Aes to stir so much thought and emotion.

I was especially struck by the colorized version of your art. At first it reminded me of Kirilian photography which lead me to the chakras and the colors associated them and how they reflected in the words.

      Red is sacral or root
      Tribal
      representing our core beliefs...
      what we are taught
      either intentionally or not
      through words and actions
      of those closest to us
      early in our lives.
      What our roles are...
What is expected of us on
      a very basic level.

      Purple is the third eye
      knowing.
      ...intuition
      Knowing we are not able
      to maintain these standards
all the time even though we
      feel we should.

      Green is the heart
      healing
      Love.
      Green is the healing
      we seek when we
fall short in any given role
deeply ingrained in our core belief system.

        Pix---amazing.
I did not know of the conotation
of color as applied to what we
        feel we should do--as purple--
        intuition--maintaining standards.

        And red relating to basic
        expectations---it seems so
        flamboyant--but, of course
        red--heart--centered...

        More to learn from you!

Thank you, Pixie! I love the

    5 Color Pallets

Aesthete - I'm having glitches, too. But as for the morphing of your sweet and yet powerful flower image -- bravo. I smiled increasingly through the travels and changes of the little flower, the pallets, the tints and hues, the sizing and multiple views, the separate compartments of Self and Psyche, and reflections of the stage we play on.

I enjoyed, too, the almost leaf-like structure of the poem on the page. The verses flowing, floating; and yet also a deep observation of nature.
Human nature. And you morph a personality across its range of perspectives as Little Flower morphs, too.

It is the spectrum of color added to our life's images that make life beautiful.
Your thoughts and images have radiated a spectrum of beauty to us.
    And I thank you!

BEING ALL THINGS TO ALL PEOPLE

OH BOY! Well have you got me pegged! I spent most of my life trying to be all things to all people...so this post is very interesting to me.
I also spent most of my time hiding in the background never seeking center stage...too shy.

Then, I began to write and slowly started to venture out and found people actually liked to read what I wrote.

You are so correct that we keep morphing continuously. Each day is an adventure, and sometimes dealing with our own ego is a battle.

We are constantly evolving and that always makes each new day, each new hour, each new moment, a wonder.

Aha! And now the words of the moon
      take center stage, creating
      their own bright spotlight.
      Another persona emerging
      strongly, ever surely.
      And in your river place
      you would be rightly astounded
if you discovered a strange bloom
with as many separate but equal parts
as the drawing of many component personalities!

Yes you've given me reason to ponder this piece, I've read it 3 times now.

At my age I still ask myself "who am I?" I sit here and jot down words to describe who I am and the list is long. Maybe not impressive to anyone...but long. We all have our "lists." And I think they change as often as the wind blows because we are always changing. Indeed we don't always want to change....but we glide along on lifes breezy highway to the places fate takes us. This is as usual a beautiful work, from a wonderful poet! Kelly

No, I am only one person, I never explore any possible other sides of me....

It would be nice to be a man of all seasons, to have all the answers, be everything to all people but still remain true to oneself...that ain't gonna happen is it?

No, instead we, as you mention, compartmentalize, adapt to the surrounding and those we have learned how to tread around. Imagine telling your cousin Skeeter that his theories on Moose poop as the cause of global warming is all hogwash when you know he can't handle it? No, we won't tell him that, not bluntly anyway, well agree, or poke mild fun, but we won't tell him, "Skeeter, you need psychological help!" lol Those who do are probably not loved and probably don't love either...would make for a hard existence for most of us.

You are a wise saltine straight from the cracker barrel A2000.

      Keystone's comment

I think I posted this in the wrong place. Should be as a reply to a comment you made to Aesthete-
With a nod to your intellect, humor and philosophy, I can't help but comment on the words "cousin" and "Skeeter" from your recent posts. I actually had a cousin Skeeter, "Skeet." A little older than me, not close, but grew up in the same town. When in his 40's, he stuck a hose in the tailpipe. Suicided. Never saw that coming... So this post makes me think on a deeper and more personal level than it might otherwise. And yes, wouldn't it be great to be able to be all things to all people. A little impossible.

Thanks for your posts to my silly comments!

There you are, pontificating, sitting in the vintage
country store, feet up on a wooden crate, you reaching
into the cracker barrel, uttering words of wisdom,
      being kind to Skeeter.

The "adapt"---so true. Just as someone rushes home
from work and quickly changes out of the "uniform"
of the day into the home apparel, the demeanor also
adapts to that of parent, friend, caretaker or just
"aloner," So much for person of all seasons,

    Amazing.

First I'm wondering where ya came up with these ideas, and 2nd, I wanted to take the time out to thank you for penning them, and they surely make the reader ponder and I enjoy that. Very well expressed and a some clever content of wisdom, and insight.. Leaving me in awe. Peace, and thank you for sharing you.

      Thank you, Timothy.
      I always appreciate your visits.

The drawings, the words, just my thought for the day,
whatever is on my mind---until I just let it flow.

I managed to morph the drawing in photobucket
but can't link to it here!
